Cookie Policy

⚠️ Draft for legal review. This policy describes what these marketing pages do today. It must be updated — and a consent banner added — before you introduce analytics, advertising, or the full Zero Hours app.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) in mobile apps — do much the same job. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them.

In the UK, cookies are governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) alongside the UK GDPR. PECR requires us to obtain your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary — consent must be opt-in, not opt-out.

2. Cookies on these marketing pages

These pages set no cookies. Our Home, Find Work, and Hire Staff pages do not set any cookies — no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Because we set nothing beyond what is strictly necessary, no consent banner is required here.

Two things are still worth telling you about, because they involve your data leaving your browser:

Google Fonts

Our pages load the typefaces "Outfit" and "Space Grotesk" from Google's font servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This does not set a cookie, but it does mean your IP address is transmitted to Google in order to serve the font files. If you would rather this did not happen, you can block those domains at the browser or network level; the pages will still work, using a fallback typeface.

Form submissions

When you submit a sign-up form, the data you type is sent directly from your browser to our form provider, Web3Forms (api.web3forms.com), which forwards it to our inbox. This happens only when you press submit, and it does not set a cookie. See our Privacy Policy for what we do with that data.

3. Cookies on the Zero Hours app

The full Zero Hours platform (app.zerohours.live) needs cookies to work. As it launches, the categories below will apply, and a consent banner will let you accept or reject each non-essential category before it is set.

Before launch: replace this section with the specific cookie names, providers, and expiry periods actually in use. Vague "we may use cookies" wording is a common ICO enforcement target — name each cookie and what it does.

4. Mobile app and similar technologies

PECR applies to tracking technologies in mobile apps too, not just browser cookies. If you use a Zero Hours mobile app, the same consent rules cover device identifiers, SDKs, and local storage used for analytics or advertising. Strictly necessary technologies — such as keeping you signed in — do not require consent.

5. Managing your cookies

You can control cookies in several ways:

On the Zero Hours app: use the cookie banner when you first visit, or change your choices later from the cookie-preferences link in the footer.
In your browser: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw consent at any time. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the app working.

6. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the Platform develops. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
